Weecommerce secures PKR 11M grant from DigitalOcean x BNU

Big news for business women in Pakistan!

Weecommerce has just scored an incredible PKR 11 million grant from DigitalOcean (DO) in partnership with Beaconhouse National University (BNU).

So what’s Weecommerce all about?

Weecommerce was launched with a clear mission: to empower women entrepreneurs by providing them with free websites and dedicated support for a year after their websites go live.

The initiative was designed to address the challenges faced by women in Pakistani society, where access to resources and technology can be a bit of a challenge.

The DO x BNU grant is a huge leap towards closing the resource & tech gap for women entrepreneurs.

With this fantastic support, Weecommerce is set to launch 180 free websites for women-led businesses all over Pakistan, helping them shine in the digital world.

The significance of the grant

Securing the grant was not easy. The process was rigorous and involved multiple stages, including interviews, pitch decks, and written proposals.

Sabeen Khan, the Program Lead, expressed her excitement about the grant, saying, “We’re very excited and aim to provide free websites to more women entrepreneurs in Pakistan with this support.”

No doubt, the grant is extremely valuable for Weecommerce. This funding will enable the initiative to launch 180 websites for women entrepreneurs across Pakistan.

Each of these websites will be a shining platform for these talented women to showcase their products, reach more customers, and grow their businesses.

But that’s not all. Weecommerce will also provide continuous support to make sure these businesses can sustain and expand their online presence.

Real success stories

Since its inception, Weecommerce has already transformed numerous lives. Take Rohma, for example.

Her business – Jewelry Line – has reached customers from across Pakistan with its new website.

She says, Weecommerce has changed the way I do business. I can now reach customers from all over Pakistan and all around the world.

Then there’s AM Wares, another brilliant venture powered by a strong, entrepreneurial woman who specializes in equipping home kitchens with items like wooden cutlery trays, chopping boards, wooden spatulas, and more.

And of course – Pinkstudio.pk – a platform selling traditional Pakistani clothes online.

The grant will allow Weecommerce to scale its operations and support even more women-led businesses. This expansion is about more than just numbers… It’s about empowering women, fostering innovation, and driving economic growth.

With DigitalOcean and BNU’s backing, Weecommerce is set to make an even greater impact, helping more women turn their business dreams into reality.

The broader vision

The collaboration between DigitalOcean, BNU, and Weecommerce marks a significant step towards enhancing women’s entrepreneurship in Pakistan.

With increased digital literacy and access to e-commerce platforms, women entrepreneurs will be better equipped to compete in the market. This initiative not only supports individual businesses but also contributes to the overall economic growth of the country.

Weecommerce’s journey is a testament to the power of collaboration and the impact of targeted support. With the backing of DigitalOcean & BNU, Weecommerce is poised to make a lasting difference in the lives of women entrepreneurs across Pakistan.
